The mum health you want starts With THIS... and it may not be what you think
Lessons are often learnt hard, aren’t they? My journey to motherhood was bumpy. My husband and I were told that we may not be able to conceive.
Fertility treatment followed and several years later, with luck and a few miracles thrown in, I had had two sons in two years. I could not believe how lucky I was. I was grateful and humbled that I had been given this gift when so many were denied it. I carried that in my heart so very deeply.
The mistake I made was to then pour every single ounce of energy and love into my sons. Every single ounce. No matter if I forgot to eat. No matter if I hadn't had a drink all day. No matter that I wasn't sleeping.
All that mattered was them. This was how I showed my gratitude.
I was a nutritionist by then. I should have known better. I knew that eating well matters and I wasn’t doing it. It was particularly foolish because I have a history of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and my recovery was hard fought.
During those early years of being a mum, I realised that if I wasn't nourished, my sons didn't get the best of me. If I was running on empty, I wasn't the mum they deserved. I realised, too, that I deserved to feel amazing. Why did motherhood somehow mean I did not?
So, I had to give myself permission to nourish myself.
Let me ask you, do you nourish yourself with the same love and passion you look after your family?
We make that decision every day.
Yes, I do have time for breakfast.
Yes, I will stop for ten minutes and have lunch.
Yes, I will take notice of my body telling me it's out of balance - fatigue, low energy, PMS, crap periods, no libido, constipation.
The truth is that your time will always be needed elsewhere. Does that mean you're willing to feel knackered for the next 3, 5, 10 years? I hope not.
As the Knackered Mums Nutritionist, my superpower is making it easier for you to find ways to nourish yourself, impossible as it may seem right now. I help you improve and resolve the issues that you’ve pushed to the bottom of your to-do list for far too long. How are you? What do you put up with? Headaches. Period pain. Bloating. Constipation. Anxiety. More than one of those?
If you know in your heart that you don’t want to feel this way anymore, you have a few options to take the next step without it costing you anything at all.
